ALL THAT IS SOLID MELTS INTO AIR.

“This collection… is a capstone project accomplished via the languages and principles of fashion which concludes my four years of undergraduate study here at Parsons. Reflecting upon my personal development as an artist and maker through my academic journey, I took my time to contemplate the Western or contemporary systems of pattern-making and the breakdown of conventional styles and norms of dress I was exposed to and trained in. In an attempt to combine that with my native Asian, specifically Chinese roots of origin, I embarked on the following investigations and set forth a series of looks that manifested me and the multidimensional background which influences me - both as myself and as well as acting in the role of a designer.” - Quoted from Kun Hong’s Parsons Thesis Portfolio Book, written 2022.

This was my Parsons BFA graduating collection as featured in Vogue.

"Modernity is a paradoxical unity, a unity of disunity: it pours us all into a maelstrom of perpetual disintegration and renewal, of struggle and contradiction, of ambiguity and anguish. To be modern is to be part of a universe in which, as Marx said, ‘all that is solid melts into air’." - Marshell Berman, All That Is Solid Melts Into Air, published 1982.
